I have a habit of "going ostrich" whenever the subject of Rush Limbaugh comes up. The only time I have really paid attention was when he went after Michael J. Fox, which I considered not immoral--it was amoral. You have to wonder if the man has any compass at all, as in he's not psychotic--he's a psychopath.
This little ditty called "Barack the Magic Negro" is not Limbaugh's invention (that distinction belongs to Paul Shanklin), but Limbaugh promoted it on his show, and I don't ever intend to forget it. Furthermore, it's on a CD that was distributed with the intent of generating goodwill among (angry white) men as part of this year's Winter Shopping Festival. The giver was Chip Saltsman and the recipients were key members of the RNC/GOP, who were given a gentle seasonal reminder that Saltsman would like to be the group's next leader.

I hate to admit this reminds me of a sad story some years ago in Indianapolis, in which an elderly senile woman kept money around her house in grocery bags. A man found out about this, robbed her and then, inexplicably, killed her, even though her senile mind had no way of remembering him. Even more inexplicably, he then went and bragged about his crime at a bar and was quickly caught.
Of course, the worst thing by far that he did was the crime itself, but he seemed somehow equally guilty of stupidity, both for the murder and for telling about it.
So too with Chip Saltzman. The worst thing he has done is promoting this racist song, but he seems equally guilty of sheer stupidity. Does he think you can send out something like this and still become the leader of the Republican party? If he can, then the Republicans are in far worse shape than the election made them appear to be, which was bad enough. I suspect they will dump him within 48 hours.
