So this is the magazine that showed up in our mail today. I have never much liked to read The New Yorker; the design is too old school for me, and I guess I have the attention span of a flea because I just do not like long-form journalism, even though I have written a few books. The husband, on the other hand, has been a devoted reader as long as I have known him. He was OUTRAGED when Tina Brown became the editor and started running photographs (uttered with the utmost disdain). I explained to him that Ms. Brown had to do something because only 12 people read the thing. Ever since that day, whenever The New Yorker does anything the least bit discomfiting, Steve will hold up the magazine and say something like, "The Twelve are NOT pleased."Through this election season, I have to say I have loved the covers of The New Yorker, and now the magazine has given me an installation idea for the Inaugural Ball. Thanks to all twelve of you readers. Ye-yuh!

You are welcome!

efk - you must be No. 1 of The Twelve. I am a subscriber since 1976. Got hooked on cartoons in college, then short stories. Recently NYer has been the most intelligent voice for the political left. Now I tend to read the journalistic articles more than the stories, but I still love the cartoons. (Someday they will see the brilliance of my wit and I will win the caption contest!)
